Daniel E. McCluskey, 78, of Park Hills, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014, with his family at his side. Daniel was born in 1936 to Bill and Millie McCluskey of Chicago, Illinois.

He was a 1954 graduate of Roger Bacon High School and a 1958 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, earning a B.A. in Business Education. In 1957, Daniel married Connie Wakeman. He taught adult Business Education courses at Hughes High School, and subsequently taught Motivational Speaking for the Dale Carnegie Institute throughout Ohio.

After working his way through college at Schoenling Brewery, Daniel began his career with General Motors. At the age of 23, he was promoted to District Manager.

In 1966, after a series of transfers to Springfield, Ohio, to Lima, Ohio, and finally to Dayton, Ohio, Daniel resigned from General Motors to become a partner at Superior Chevrolet.

In 1973, he became the Founder and Chairman of McCluskey Chevrolet overseeing the growth of this company for over four decades from a very small dealership in Reading, Ohio to one that has received numerous city, state, and national awards in both sales and customer satisfaction.

Over the years, Daniel served as President of the Cincinnati Automobile Dealers Association, member of the Reading Chamber of Commerce, member of the National Automobile Dealers Association, served on Chevrolet Motor Divisions Dealer Council, belonged to the NCM Dealer 20 Group, and supported numerous charities throughout the community.

Daniel was preceded in death by his brother; Col. William J. McCluskey.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Connie Wakeman McCluskey and their two children, Vicki McCluskey Schmerge (Mark) and Keith McCluskey (Kimberly). He was the proud grandfather of Lauren Schmerge, J.D. Schmerge, K.C. McCluskey, Cameron McCluskey, Jacob McCluskey, and Sabrina McCluskey. He is also survived by his brothers; Michael McCluskey (Elaine), Patrick McCluskey (Sandy); his sister, Kathy McCluskey (Jeff), and his sister-in-law, Joyce McCluskey. He will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and the entire McCluskey Chevrolet Family.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright, Kentucky 41017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Agnes Church, Ft. Wright, Kentucky at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky.
