Brian Douglas Rope on July 10th passed away peacefully in his sleep; he was 57. He is survived by his sister Lisa, brothers Ron and Alan, step-mother Carol, in laws Sue Rope, Robert Wilson and Therese Tuohy and numerous other relatives. He will also be missed by his family at the Benton Center who extended their love and care for him over a significant portion of his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Loveless Rope (2003) and later by his father William Funelle Rope (2005).

Brian grew up in Terrace Park, OH and enjoyed countless hours at Camp Stepping Stones and the community swim center. This experience helped him with his achievement of gold in the Special Olympics.

He also worked countless hours as a volunteer with United Way sponsored programs; his over 5000 hours volunteering with the Cincinnati Police Department got the notice of Mayor Charlie Luken, who awarded him a “Key to the City of Cincinnati”. He later transitioned to the Milford Fire Department for similar duties.

We all appreciate the incredible generosity shown to Brian by the many people in these organizations, we can’t say thank you enough.

A memorial service for Brian will be held from 10-12, Monday, July 28, 2014 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia.
