Matthew J. McGonegle, loving father of Christopher and Katherine McGonegle, beloved brother of James, Duke, Sherry, Mark, Douglas, Larry McGonegle and the late Jeffrey McGonegle, devoted son of the late Margaret and Charles McGonegle, passed away May16, 2017 at the age of 60. He was a resident of Union Township.

Matt attended grade school at St. Thomas Moore and returned later in life as a member of the church. He graduated from Walnut Hills High School and continued to show his appreciation for his city when he graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Aerospace Engineering.

Matt's love for aviation started at a very early age. When he was ten he was building his own balsa wood multiple stage rockets which led to a successful career at GE, where he had the opportunity to work on jet engines. In his free time, he enjoyed taking flight lessons at Lunken Airport which ultimately led to him designing and creating his own five screen flight simulator. This simulator was one of his favorite pastimes because it provided him the ability to experience this love while in the comfort of his own home.

Matt will forever be loved and remembered by his family and friends for his infectious sense of humor.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 27 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas More Church in Withamsville. www.ecnurre.com
