Elsie (nee Walton) Speakman. Beloved wife for 56 years to the late Robert Speakman. Loving mother of Sandra (Ben) Brickner. Grandmother of Patty (Kenny) Van Cleve, Mary (Jason) Carr and the late Becky Teeken. Great grandmother to Abby and Ben Henke. Passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday May 25, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. Elsie was born March 16, 1926 in Yarmouth, England to George and Beatrice Walton.

She was the youngest of six children, two sisters and three brothers all predeceased. She still has nieces and nephews residing in England.

She met Robert during WWII while studying to become a nurse. She came to the United States in 1946 and took night classes to obtain her U.S. citizenship. She worked at U.S. Shoe Corporation retiring in 1989.

She will always be remembered for her warmth and kindness, and her love for her family and those around her.

Visitation Friday from 6pm-8pm at the Minges Funeral Home, 10385 New Haven Rd, Harrison, Ohio 45030. Burial will take place on Saturday at 11am at Reber Hill Cemetery in Ashville, Ohio.
