.................................................

13-year-old Esme Kenney, the baby of the family, was a seventh-grader who attended the School for Creative & Performing Arts. A gifted child, she was a vocal music major and an instrumental music major. She sang in the choir and played the cello in the junior high orchestra. She loved talking on the phone, playing cello, and doing homework. And she had her own blog, which she called The Esme Show.

Esme went out for a jog on Saturday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. Her mother was to join her on this jog... however, 20 minutes after Esme left the house, her mother was unable to find her. The police issued a missing person's report at 10:00 p.m. A search party was organized. Police didn't suspect foul play until they came across a man in the woods. That man was 40-year-old Anthony Kirkland. He immediately became a person of interest in Esme's disappearance. After an initial interview with Kirkland, officials immediately feared for Esme's safety…an Amber Alert was issued at 1:00 a.m.

At around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, a K9 unit discovered Esme's lifeless body. Details surrounding her death are not being released.

The family asks that people make a donation in Esme's name to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
