Shayna Elayne Smith, age 15, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 24, 2015. She was born on Thursday, January 13, 2000 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Brian and Tywana Smith. Shayna's name means "Beautiful Light" and that beautiful light shone brightly for 15 years on this Earth. Shayna was drop dead gorgeous, smart, loving, considerate, athletic and compassionate.

Shayna was a High Honors Student at Lakota West High School and number 16 in her class of over 500. A young lady full of life, she never met a stranger and would be a friend to any who met her. Many called Shayna their best friend.

She excelled in sports, transitioning from basketball after playing for 8 years, to volleyball where she, in her first year, made the Lakota West Volleyball team as as well as playing for the Arsenal Volleyball Academy. She is a past member of the Windwood Swim Team. Shayna was self-driven as she worked diligently on receiving her Gold Award through Girl Scouts having the Bronze Award already achieved. Last year, she enjoyed her time as a volunteer at the Cincinnati Zoo. Shayna loved animals and had already planned to attend the Ohio State University to become a veterinarian. Shayna often expressed how she cherished her position in the family as the baby taking full advantage of the title and all its benefits.

Shayna is the beloved daughter of Brian and Ty Smith. She is the devoted little sister and admirer of Kayla Elyse Smith, whom she adored. Shayna and Kayla have a bond most sisters would only envy. Each night as they went to their rooms, each would tell the other she loved her in their own special language no one else was allowed to share.

Shayna is the loving granddaughter of Ronald & Ida Smith, Margaret Smith and the late James F. Smith; a niece, cousin, family member and friend to many.
