Dortha “Mae” Mobley Barnes Whitaker, 88, of Hebron, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at her home. She was born on July 10, 1926 in Livingston, KY to the late Daniel and Ella Clark Mobley.

Dortha was a retired custodian at R.A. Jones Middle School, 71 year member of Sand Run Baptist Church (oldest member), loved gardening, mowing, canning, cooking and baking.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Phyllis (Lou) Hamilton of Florence, brother, Charles Kenneth Mobley of Florence, grandchildren, Larry James (Chrissy) Barnes, Shavanah Marie (Lisa) Barnes, great grandchildren, Kobe Michel Spake, Hailey Elizabeth “Mae” Spake and 3 step-grandchildren.

Preceding in death, along with her parents, is her first husband, Samuel Lawrence Barnes, second husband, Alvan Earl Whitaker, son, Lawrence Barnes Jr., brothers, George, Chester, Roy, Robert, Jesse and Edward, sisters, Maudie and Margaret, stepdaughter Sue Morris and sister-in-law Florence (Peatie) Barnes. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
