Margaret "Peggy" (nee Nelson) Smith, beloved wife for 58 years of Glenn C. Smith and loving mother of Carolyn Smith Collette of Indian Hill and Lauren Elizabeth Smith McCombs of Jamestown, RI., devoted grandmother of Meredith, Brian, and Lauren Collette; Katherine and Sara McCombs, dear sister of Donald W. Nelson Jr. of Fairfield, CT. Passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on March 26,, 2015 at the age of 79.

Peggy was born in Lansing, MI and lived with her parents Donald W. and Lucile Nelson in Bloomington, IL. She graduated from Michigan State University in 1957 and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

After their marriage, Peggy was a Navy wife for three years and lived in California and Newport, RI. After her husband's discharge, Peggy and her husband lived in Berea, Strongsville, and Rocky River, OH.

She volunteered countless hours at the Southwest General Hospital where she was president of the ladies Junior Board. She retired to Hilton Head Is, SC and lived in Sea Pines Plantation for 17 years.

Peggy was a long-time supporter of classical music, avid church choir member, traveler, golfer, and bridge player. Peggy and her husband moved to Montgomery, Ohio in 2012 and lived in the Twin Lakes retirement center.

A celebration of Peggy's life will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 11:00 A.M. at The Indian Hill Church, 6000 Drake Road, with a reception immediately following at the church. Gilligan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
