Loraine Constable Carey, 99 of Blanchester, died on Sunday January 18, 2015 at the Continental Manor Nursing and Rehab Facility.

Mrs. Carey was born on December 22, 1915 in the Second Creek Community, Blanchester, OH, daughter of the late Milton Constable and Lizzie Hallsted Constable.

Family members surviving are nephew, James (Michelle) Constable; nieces, Ann Penquite and Ruth Ann Penquite; several great nieces and great nephews; several great great nieces and great great nephews and a great great great niece. In addition to her parents, those preceding her in death were half- brother, James Everett (Blanche) Penquite, son of Lucian and Lizzie Hallsted Penquite; brother James Howard (Ethel) Constable; nephews Eli Penquite, Wilson (Virginia) Penquite, Asa Penquite, and a niece Jane (Donald) Smith. Mrs.

Carey attended Second Creek School grades 1-8. As a freshman, she was bused to Blanchester High School where she graduated in 1933. She then went to Bliss College in Columbus, OH where she graduated in 1935 from the Secretarial Department.

She worked from 1936 until October 1938 at the Feldman's Coal and Feed Company on Church Street in Blanchester as a bookkeeper. In October of 1938, Mrs. Carey went to work for the First National Bank of Blanchester as a bookkeeper. In January of 1946, Mrs. Carey was promoted to Assistant Cashier and worked in this capacity until her retirement on December 31, 1977.

On January 12, 1978 she married Joseph Warren Carey at the United Methodist Church in Washington Court House, OH by Pastor Philip Brooks, former pastor of Second Creek United Methodist Church. Mr. Carey had two sons from a previous marriage, Earl (Maudina) Carey deceased and Lee (Donna) Carey of Charlotte, North Carolina. They went to Hawaii on a tour and returned to their winter home in Taveres, Florida where they spent several months every winter. In the spring, they returned to their farm in Blanchester. They moved to town in 1980 where they retired.

Joe Carey passed away April 22, 1985. Mrs. Carey continued to go to Florida in the winter months with her brother and sister-in-law.

Mrs. Carey is a member of the Second Creek United Methodist Church and a member of the Second Creek Ladies Aid. With the support and assistance of step-son Lee Carey and the Asa Penquite Family, Mrs. Carey was able to remain in her home until July 2013 when she moved into Continental Manor Nursing and Rehab Facility.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday January 24, 2015 at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St. Blanchester, OH 45107, where friends will be received from 9:30 AM until time of service. Interment Blanchester I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
