James Michael Logan
James Michael Logan April 23, 1918 – February 22, 2000

James Logan was born in Ripley Ohio on the family farm, son of Albert John Logan and Lola Kate Logan (Shaw). His family moved to Oakley when he was five years old and remained there for many years. While living in Oakley his family joined St. Cecilia Church where he attended the parish grade school, then later he attended Withrow High School where he was a member of the football team. While in high school he worked in his father’s café as a short order cook. In 1936 he gained employment at Cincinnati Milling Machine, now known as Cincinnati Milicron. On June 6, 1942 he married Emma Margaret West, but shortly afterwards he was called to service in World War II. He was an anti-aircraft gunner for the Army and saw action in North Africa, Italy, and Germany, then was transferred to France toward the end of the war. Following the war when he returned home he continued his career at the Mill, but moved to Withamsville, Ohio with his young family where he established a small farm. With the help of his wife and their seven children he worked in the city, planted and raised a garden, and raised and sold livestock for many years. During his years with Milacron James was an instructor for the Mill training program, and later he traveled in field service for the Mill. He retired from Milicron in 1982 but continued to work his small farm. James enjoyed hunting, was an accomplished horseman, and spent many hours in his garage workshop. He especially enjoyed welding and created a number of small welded art pieces. He was a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Withamsville, the Knights of Columbus, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
